Challenge

Install 28 miles of heavy duty power cable (3400 MT) for a new windfarm off of Block Island.

Solution

Subsalve’s inflatable Twin Cable Floats were used to provide sufficient incremental buoyancy to float the cable during installation and enable controlled decent to safely place the cable on the ocean bottom.

Outcome

The network of cables were successfully installed to provide power to 17,000 homes and to mitigate the routine use of Block Island’s diesel generators.
